ASU Offensive Lineman Dohnovan West Returns to California

After three years in the Grand Canyon State, ASU offensive lineman, Dohnovan West, will be headed back home to California as an undrafted free agent.

While the six-foot three-inch, 296 lbs lineman didn’t hear his name called on the final day of the NFL Draft, West has reportedly signed a deal to join the San Francisco 49ers. Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network reported the contract includes a $10,000 signing bonus and $100,000 of guaranteed money.

A three-year starter for the Sun Devils, West was thrust into the center position just a week before his freshman season opener in 2019 and would end up playing a variety of interior positions in his three seasons for Arizona State. He played every game of his freshman year, all four games of the COVID-shortened 2020 season, and played just four games last year due to injury.

In West’s third year with ASU, he earned Pac-12 All-Conference Second Team honors and was one of just eight Sun Devils to be invited to the NFL combine.

West graduated from Bishop Alemany High School in Los Angeles, CA. The lineman was offered by six other Pac-12 schools out of high school but decided to make Tempe his home. West put down a 5.27-second 40-yard dash at 2022 combine and was rated as an “Average Backup Or Special-Teamer” by NFL Next Gen Stats Prospect Grade.

While West wasn’t drafted over the weekend, four of his Sun Devil teammates had their names called. Running back, Rachaad White, was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round, cornerback, Jack Jones, was picked up by New England in the fourth round, DJ Davidson was drafted by the New York Giants in the fifth round, and Chase Lucas by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round.
