The college transition, both on and off the football field, will be a bit easier for Horizon High School student-athletes Grant Mileski, Isaiah Mursalat and Justin Segura who each signed their letters of intent Wednesday morning to attend New Mexico State.
“Three great kids,” Horizon head coach Ty Wisdom said to Sports360AZ.com. “I’ve said all along some university is getting not only getting three [really] good football players but great kids. I’m excited for their future.”
The three players were instrumental in helping lead the Huskies to a 7-4 season and birth in the 6A playoffs.

“It was just the atmosphere when I showed up on campus,” the 6-foot-4, 281-pound Mursalat explained about the Las Cruces school. “The way the coaches treated me, the schemes they run. I loved everything about it.”
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Mileski led Horizon in receptions (28) and yards (303) at tight end, while also registering 49 tackles (nine for loss) at defensive end last fall. He’s expected to play tight end exclusively at NMSU.

“It felt amazing being able to play next to my teammates for the next five years,” Mileski said shortly after signing. “I know my high school career is over. It’s time to move on.”
Segura, 6-foot-4, 255-pounds is another interesting prospect for the Aggies. He is projected to play the five-technique in college after registering 45 tackles and three sacks from his nose guard position, while also playing up front on offense for Wisdom.

“I was a little nervous signing,” Segura said with a sheepish grin. “I was very anxious [Wednesday] morning. I didn’t get much sleep. It’s a lot of weight off my shoulders. I feel really good right now.”
The close friends also set an important example for the younger players in Horizon’s program to follow.
“The biggest thing is these kids maximized their potential,” Wisdom said of the trio. “We talk about having goals, having a vision and waking up every day to where you’re aligning your every day actions to reach those goals.”
