The art of finding(or not) a NFL head coach, Koa Peat comes home, more…

No white smoke yet from the owner’s office of YOUR Arizona Cardinals. Over the last ten years, the owner has a record of 61 wins, 102 losses, and 2 ties.

Should we be surprised that the NFL head coach firing-and-hiring cycle has almost come and gone, and our heroes on the gridiron are still looking for their fourth head coach in eight years? But here’s a little advance on what the owner will say once they finally find the next warm body.

-“This was the head coach we wanted all along.”

-“We were patient, thorough, and very focused.”

-“Monti did his due diligence, blah, blah, blah.”

The owner should say, “Hey, loyal fans, I’ve disappointed you by missing on the last three shortimers, but I promise you that I’ve gotten it right this time.”

A media member will ask the owner about the previous three head coaching misses, and he will be dismissive. That’s who this owner has been. He’s always right. So, being the last ones, along with the Raiders, to hire a head coach will be his plan all along when they step to the podium for the photo opp.

61-102-2 the last ten years. Hard to be that bad in any professional sport, but here we are…

Item – Dillon “The Villain” Brooks t-shirts.

Drawing attention to your own villain is cute in January, but not to the NBA officials, who will look that much closer at what he does once the playoffs start in mid-April. There’s much more to Brooks’ game than being the sandpaper guy to the other team. He’s played well enough to be an all-star, though that won’t happen…

Item-Koa Peat comes home this Saturday.

I coached against the teams Koa was on in grade school. He was an immovable force then, just as now. Saturday’s homecoming at Arizona State will be a red, white, and blue affair. I’ll say 70% of the building will be Arizona Wildcats fans. There is so much to like about his game, but the one area that Wildcat fans better keep an eye on is free throw shooting. 61% isn’t going to get it done in March.

Item- Arizona Wildcats going undefeated into the NCAA Tourney.

No…you don’t want that kind of pressure on a team that is starting three freshman, No matter how good they are in late January, the longer they remain perfect, the harder it will be for them in March. A good “wakeup call” with a loss wouldn’t hurt. Could that be this Saturday?…
