For those that watched Bijan Robinson truck defenders for the Salpointe Catholic Lancers, they knew the running back was destined for big things on and off the football field.
On Thursday, he took the next step in his journey when the Atlanta Falcons selected him with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Robinson was considered by some analysts to be one of the best and safest picks in the draft after a decorated career at the University of Texas. In three seasons with the Longhorns, he tallied 3,410 rushing yards and 41 total touchdowns. He won the 2022 Doak Walker Award, given to the best running back in college football.
He was an All-American at Salpointe Catholic, where he and Ohio State safety Lathan Ransom took the program to new heights. He set Arizona’s rushing record with 7,036 yards and 114 career touchdowns.
