Tom Brady started his NFL career in 2001. There was no Tik Tok or Facebook. We learned about his Sunday exploits through a highlight show at the end of the day or halftime on Monday Night Football. He’ll make more money in his next gig sitting in a TV booth for FOX(375-million dollars). He has the most incredible resume of any athlete I’ve ever seen…
The Suns will need a new team photo after next Thursday’s trade deadline…
Mikal Bridges has been showing some new gears over the last couple of weeks…
National Signing Day. A day to get some headlines and hype up the fan base. Ten months from now, some(many?)names you’re reading about today will likely be in the transfer portal. It’s just the world we live in. Sure, there will be some hits, but there are just as many misses in the college and pro football space regarding talent acquisition on signing and draft day…
I would think that for the sanity of college football head coaches, assistants, and support staff, the recruiting calendar needs to change. The regular season ends at the end of November. Staff movement and players leaving happen in early December. Signing day is on December 20th. If you made a bowl game, practices are happening during this period. You’re trying to hire assistant coaches. Oh, by the way, can you pick up some Christmas presents? The Bowl game gets played after Christmas up to New Year’s. Staff movement and transfer portal continue. The new semester starts the second/third week of January, and the second signing day is in the first week of February. Brutal…
Sat in on Jedd Fisch’s signing day event in Tucson. I like his straightforward approach. He has turned the Titanic around in just a couple of seasons. He has several NFL-caliber players in the program. Arizona Wildcat football was one of the worst, if not THE worst, programs in the nation when he arrived. Twenty of his signees were on the defensive side of the ball. Yet, his biggest signing day story was convincing five players not to ditch the program and put their names in the NFL Draft…
If I’m to believe my inbox, Jadan Rashada sold some season tickets for Arizona State Football on Wednesday…
Tuesday at the WM Open is one of the best-kept secrets on the Valley sports calendar…
The grandson of the late great Arizona sportscaster Tom Dillon will play football at Northern Arizona. I was happy to see that Corona Del Sol lineman Matthew Orthmann is heading to the Lumberjacks. His grandpa would be proud!…
Once upon a time, I was a 25-year-old broadcaster hosting radio shows in Southern California on the legendary Mighty 690. Bobby Beathard was the General Manager of the then-San Diego Chargers. We had chats at UC San Diego during training camps(in between him surfing). He provided me with great insight and information, along with some advice when I was considering leaving the nest and coming to Arizona. A good man. RIP…
Rick Garretson has won a ton of games at Chandler football. He’s going to continue to win a ton of games for the Wolves…
Corbin Carroll and Jordan Lawler. Jordan Lawler and Corbin Carroll. I can’t wait…
Let’s talk about tickets. Terrace section 405 for the Super Bowl, $5,700 bucks a seat. My wife wants to take me to Vegas to see Adele for $1,650 a pop. Not in the mindset of doing either, though Adele puts on a hell of a show, from what I’ve heard…
