No. 6 seed Penn State holds off No. 3 seed Boise State and 2024 Heisman runner-up Ashton Jeanty to earn the Nittany Lions eighth consecutive win in the Fiesta Bowl. A strong second half by James Franklin’s team earned them the 31-24 victory, following Penn State’s 2017 win in Glendale. This time around the Nittany Lions earn a ticket to the College Football Playoff semifinal in Miami.
While this was both teams’ first appearance in the CFP tournament, they shared undefeated experiences in Arizona’s historic bowl game heading into the night.
The 2024 edition showcased Penn State tight end Tyler Warren who earned offensive MVP honors with a two-touchdown performance. The Broncos star running back put up 104 rushing yards thanks to a standout showing by PSU’s front seven. That was capped by 134 yards from PSU’s back Kaytron Allen.
