My Heisman ballot, Is Jimmy Butler the answer, next wave of betting…

Arizona Sports News online

Cam Skattebo, Ashton Jeanty, Travis Hunter was the order of my Heisman Trophy ballot submitted last Monday. Yes, I had the Arizona State running back first, not because he played in my hometown. His stats showed part of the story, but so did the success of the team going from being picked last in the Big !2 to now playing in the College Football Playoff. Did Hunters team make it into the CFP? Jeanty had a terrific season, but going from worst to first on the legs of Skattebo gave him the edge on my ballot. I’ve saw Marshall Faulk get screwed in 1992 and Christian McCafferey robbed in 2015 ONLY because they didn’t play on brand names with several national TV appearances. Add Skattebo to the list of snubs…

Rich Rod going back to West Virginia had to include an assist from Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick, who’s been a big fan of Rodriguez since his first run at Morgantown. It will be interesting over the coming days to see if any current ASU assistant coaches get a call from Rich about coming to the Mountaineer staff…

Watched Arizona, Arizona State and Grand Canyon hoops on Saturday. All three will make the March Madness Tournament, but I’d have to put the ‘Lopes and Sun Devils ahead of the Wildcats right now in terms of looking the part of a team about to go on a long run. Still A LOT of season left for Tommy Lloyd to figure it out and get his team headed in the right direction…

Jeremy Hathcock to Chandler as the next football coach of the Wolves? That was the hot rumor on Saturday aftneroon. Hathcock did a great job at Verrado this past season…

Point spreads and betting are now happening on high school football and Pop Warner championships. I kid you not.

With the Yankees pursuing Cody Bellinger to play first base, where does this leave Christian Walker? While it’s been written in plenty of places that Walker and Joc Pederson both won’t return to the Diamondbacks, I’m not so sure that is what will happen. Even if one of them comes back for 2025, it’s a win for the Hometown Nine…

6-7 after 6-4. Yep, your Cardinals have their backs against the wall against New England. You want to fire Kyler Murray as your quarterback? Who is the answer in 2025? Easy to have hot takes without solid answers…

Oh, I get it, Jimmy Butler in a Suns uniform means Kevin Durant will be one hundred percent healthy throughout the playoffs. Keep changing the characters except for the Big Two and suddenly a title will drop down. That isn’t how it works…

I miss Jude LaCava…

Give me another state that puts on three bowl games(including a CFP) and includes Snoop Dogg?…

Cactus League isn’t likely to be setting attendance records in 2025. Both the Dodgers and Cubs are scheduled to play in Tokyo March 18th, 19th to open the regular season. Cutting games out of Arizona is part of the deal…
