Higley QB Luke Haugo Discusses Arizona Commitment

Higley quarterback Luke Haugo made a verbal commitment to the University of Arizona this week. Despite only knowing the staff for a few months now, his connection with offensive coordinator Dino Babers made the Cats the spot for him.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound quar played in two games last year for the Knights after sitting out five games due to transfer rules and then recovering from a back injury.

In those two games, he threw for 527 yards for 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.

Even in those times where he wasn’t on the field, head coach Eddy Zubey said Haugo was “all about Higley.”

“He was awesome. He was a great leader,” Zubey said. “He had to sit the first five games, and (Higley quarterback Gunner Fagrell) was in at quarterback. After every series, Luke would grab Gunner. He was like an extra coach talking to him, watching videos and going over reads.”

Haugo is the third public commit of the Wildcats’ 2025 class and second quarterback of the class.

He spoke with Sports360AZ about his commitment and what’s next for the Wildcats.
