In its second year, Dingers In The Desert has brought some of the best young baseball talent with Arizona ties on the same field for a home run derby. The mission? Help benefit Project Thirty Four, a foundation created by former ASU baseball players Cory Hahn and Trevor Williams to support those who have experienced spinal cord injuries. Hahn sustained a spinal cord injury as a freshman with the Arizona State baseball team. Now, Hahn is the coordinator of professional scouting with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Williams is a starting pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The two remain best friends and brought out the likes of Pirates infielder and Mountain Pointe alum Cole Tucker, Pirates infeidler and former Arizona Wildcat Kevin Newman, Major League outfielder Kevin Pillar and GCU alum Quin Cotton, who won the event.
