After five weeks of sitting out, Diana Taurasi finally made her return to the hardwood in style. The star guard set a new milestone becoming the first WNBA player to ever reach 9,000 career points.

Taurasi was the fastest player to ever reach the 7,000 point milestone back in 2016. Before Sunday’s game, “the goat” was the only player to ever reach 8,000 points and now she’s tacked on over 1,000 more points since setting that record.

Chris Paul, one of the “greatest of all-time” himself, was in the arena to watch Taurasi break yet another record. CP3 was showing the Mercury some love just one day ahead of Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.
There’s a whole lot of milestone moments happening at the Phoenix Suns Arena by both of the Valley’s professional basketball teams. While the fate of the Phoenix Suns is still unknown, Phoenix basketball fans can rest assured that it will be quite a while before any WNBA player can even think about surpassing the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer.
