The first win of Kenny Dillingham’s career at ASU will not be one soon forgotten.
ASU had their back against the wall but edged out Southern Utah 24-21. There were plenty of ups and downs…and thunderbolts.
Part of the evening was a nearly three-hour delay because of a storm that had rolled in. ASU was able to cap off a drive right before halftime with a touchdown before lightning struck within seven miles of the stadium. When that happens, the game must be postponed 30 minutes. The clock also resets every time there is another strike in the area.
Southern Utah came out swinging and outscored the Sun Devils 14-3 in the second half, who could not find a rhythm after the long delay.
But the defense stood strong, and the offense did just enough to chew up the clock to get the first win for the Sun Devils.
Sports360AZ takes a deeper look at the game, the break, and what we all learned about this year’s ASU Football team one game in.
