Arizona Wide Receiver Jacob Cowing Selected By 49ers

Jacob Cowing returned to the University of Arizona last year to help full out his resume at the next level.

He did just that.

After a 2023 season where he set the single-season receiving touchdown record for the Wildcat program (13), he was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the 4th with the 135th overall pick.

The Maricopa High School alum started his career at UTEP and had an impressive tenure there. When he entered the transfer portal ahead of the 2022 season, he was one of the highest-regarded prospects in the portal.

He ended up selecting the Arizona Wildcats to join a class that helped the program take multiple jumps over the years. He also chose to come home in part to be close to his son.

Cowing was a reliable target for Jayden de Laura and Noah Fifita, hauling in 175 catches, 1,882 yards and 20 touchdowns over two years with the Wildcats.

The NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah loves the consistency Cowing brings to the field and se

He now provides that same reliablity to the Niners.

Cowing joins quite a crew of Arizona ties already on the roster. Former Perry Puma Brock Purdy is the starting quarterback. Arizona State’s Brandon Aiyuk was their top receiver last year. Brophy standout Isaiah Oliver and Mountain View (Tucson) and former Arizona Wildcat Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles were a part of their secondary last year. The Niners’ first round pick this year was receiver Ricky Pearsall Jr., who went to Corona del Sol High School and started his college career at ASU.
