Archie Bradley is a lucky man. An inch or two higher and who knows what we might be talking about today.
The Diamondback phenom took a line drive off the bat of Carlos Gonzalez to his face in Tuesday nights game against Colorado.
Bradley was able to walk off the field under his own power. He never lost consciousness, did not have a concussion, but has swelling in his sinus cavity.
He was taken to St. Joseph’s hospital for further testing and returned to the stadium before the game was complete.
Bradley said after the game that he called his mom from the clubhouse. “Actually face-timed her from the hospital so she could see me and put a smile on her face.”
The play happened so fast that he had wasn’t really sure what had happened. “I kind of woke up and I was laying down.I was like “oh crap”, what just happened.”
The Diamondbacks are expected to put Bradley on the disabled list and recall a pitcher on Wednesday.
