The slugfest against Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw began early with Ketel Marte blasting a leadoff double and Corbin Carroll knocking him in. Tommy Pham got on, then Christian Walker demolished a double to score Carroll. Gabriel Moreno delivered a three-run bomb on a 3-2 count.
All of that happened with no outs. Kershaw only recorded one out before being pulled.
The top of the first ended with the Diamondbacks up 6-0.
Carroll leadoff with a dinger in the second inning.
Merrill Kelly gets his first win against the Dodgers (previously 0-11). He pitched a 6.1 inning 3-hit shutout en route to a 11-2 win.
Game two is Monday night at Dodger Stadium. The snakes control their destiny.
