Vance Miller is the new head varsity football coach at Arcadia High School sources close to the situation confirmed Tuesday.

Miller helped guide Apache Junction High to winning seasons the past three years, turning around the program after being named the head coach before the 2014 campaign.

He is quite familiar with his new surroundings.

“After growing up in Scottsdale, I feel a lot closer to home,” Miller said to Sports360AZ.com. “My family and I are excited to start this new journey.”

Miller said he had been commuting 30 miles each way the past seven years and with a newborn in the family, decided it was the perfect opportunity to explore jobs closer to their residence.

He leaves behind nothing but incredible memories in the southeast Valley.

“The AJ community immediately treated me like family from the first day I arrived on campus as the defensive coordinator in 2013,” he explained. “The community is very tight-knit and I immediately became a recognized face…we worked hard to make football relevant again at Apache Junction High School.”

Miller said he will continue teaching at AJ through this semester but will assume coaching at Arcadia immediately as the Titans ramp up to spring football in the coming months.

Arcadia went 6-4 in 2019 but lost four of their last five games. Kerry Taylor resigned as head coach in early November.
