Eric SorensonWith a new year, comes new beginnings. For the Arizona Cardinals, 2019 couldn’t come soon enough. As the Bird Gang ushers in a new era under Kliff Kingsbury there is plenty of work to be done picking up the pieces of last season’s 3-13 disaster under Steve Wilks.
Yes, the quarterback whisperer Kingsbury will be tasked with developing second-year quarterback Josh Rosen but there but the to-do list doesn’t stop there.
“There still needs to be work done, in my opinion, offensively,” Cardinals Ring of Honor Member, now NFL analyst Kurt Warner said to Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat. “You’ve got to shore up that offensive line, you’ve got to find some other weapons on the outside.”
Arizona finished at or near the bottom in several offensive categories in 2018. They were dead last in total yards (3865), points per game (14.1), points scored (225) and rushing yards (1342).

As a whole, Warner feels the Cards may be closer to getting back to their winning ways than some expect and believes the Kingsbury hire could re-energize the organization and their fan base. The two met a couple of months ago and Warner came away impressed.
“You’ve got some pieces [on offense], I think you have some good pieces on defense,” Warner explained. “I think there’s excitement to see if Kliff can be the next Sean McVay as everybody says. The young guy who comes in with the energy and the scheme and can turn things around really quickly.”
Warner also applauded the organization for moving on quickly from Wilks, targeting Kingsbury early and eventually hiring the 39-year-old.
