Wednesday Three Dot Thoughts…

1-9-1 in their last 11 home games. That is the home field record of the Arizona Cardinals since September of 2018 to today. Numbers don’t lie. No reason to sugarcoat it. Don’t be mad at the messenger, be mad at the franchise for putting out the product. Look, no one I respected thought that the Cardinals were going to be a postseason team in 2019. Simply put, seeing progress every week from the head coach, quarterback, and the rest of the roster is all that is left to play for between now and the end of the season in December. Guys like me can look pretty foolish proclaiming a season is over before the calendar rolls over to October, but guess what, this season is over…

Michael Crabtree didn’t last as long for our hometown heroes as Sam Bradford, but Crabtree like Bradford, didn’t leave empty-handed. Overthecap.com pegged Crabtree’s number at $2.25 million for a couple of weeks of “work”…

Three games in, David Johnson still doesn’t look like the same player from early in his career. Three games in, Larry Fitzgerald looks like a player about to burst onto stardom. Yes, I know he’s been around awhile and is a sure first ballot Hall of Famer, but Fitz simply doesn’t disappoint…

Having hosted post game call-in shows back in my early broadcast days with the Chargers, I truly feel bad for the Cardinal radio hosts when every caller wants to fire the General Manager. Been there, done that. Try as hard as you might to turn the topic, not happening when “Bill on a mobil” has put down his hard-earned dollars, paid to park, stood in lines, and watched his hometown team deliver a  1-9-1 record home record in the last eleven home games…

Really like the job Kevin Sumlin is doing with in-state recruiting for 2020. Higley standout Jason Harris, according to our recruiting expert Jordan Hamm, is high on the Wildcats, though ASU is trying to make a late push. Harris’s big brother is having a good season for the ‘Cats…

The buzz around Dae Dae Hunter at Chandler has been strong, but I hear that running back Elijah Sanders, who will be eligible for next’s showdown with Perry, is the real deal too (maybe even better)…

Brett Hundley, Homecoming Parade Grand Marshall at Chandler High this Friday night…

Those who still want to argue over the Paul Goldschmidt trade, please move on. Nothing happening here. The deal was done December 6th, 2018. Spending time on how to fix 1-9-1 in the last eleven home games would be much more productive…

The Suns open training camp next Monday…

I know, I know, we remember the days when the Cardinals would be 1-3, 0-4 but the Suns were opening so our Winter’s weren’t a wasteland. Now? Endless stories are about to come down your throats on “Can the Suns turn it around”,  “Will D-Book (not a great nickname) get his respect nationally (um, he’s being P$ID to the tune of $158-million), “Does Robert Care about Winning”, Can Deandre and D-Book co-exist, blah blah. How about stories like, “Suns Closing in on Playoffs”…Hey Robert, the last playoff game in Phoenix was May 27th, 2010. I know you know this, but the fans shouldn’t forget…

Cal hosts ASU and then plays Oregon the following week. No one believes the Bears are a national contender, but they beat Washington and Ole Miss on the road in the first month of the season. Auburn has had the most impressive start to 2019, beating Oregon and Texas A&M gets people’s attention…
