IF you had the Cardinals leading Dallas from the opening kickoff to the finish, you win. 28-16 Arizona owned the Cowboys in every facet of the game.
Thirty years of observing the sports scene here in Arizona and this is the simple truth. Beating the Cowboys or the Lakers is the ultimate. The Cardinals are just a handful of plays away from being 3-0. Joshua Dobbs was efficient. James Connor was productive. 1-2 with Brock Purdy and the 49ers next up, makes for a good story, in a season when it wasn’t supposed to be…
A week to go and the Diamondbacks control their own destiny for the postseason. I watched most of the Friday and Sunday games in New York. Having to go through the Yankess even if they stink(they do), is good theatre. Having Luis Gonzalez on the broadcast makes it that much more entertaining…
Watching the baseball stadium deals go down last week in Tampa and Milwaukee it makes me wonder what Mr. Kendrick is thinking about the future of the downtown ballpark.. The Southeast Valley is the direction of the sprawl. Fans on that side aren’t as apt to driving downtown Monday-Thursday for games after arleady communting home from work.
Yes, it was just one game on a natioanl stage, but I liked Kenny Dillingham’s aggressive playcalling. One day it could get him called out of Tempe to bigger jobs. Seven NFL coaches are in their 30’s, with Sean McVay of the Rams the youngest at 36 followed by Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell(37).
Loved Oregon head coach Dan Lannings quote about Colorado “fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins”…
I remember when Clemson was a top-five college football program. Watching their playcalling late against Florida State, they looked more like an average 15-25 ranking in the AP Poll…
Litmus test game the Wildcats next Saturday night in Tucson. Washington might be the best team in the country…
Thumbs up – Tough conditions for Diamondback broadcaster Todd Walsh Sunday in rainy/cold Yankee Stadium. Yet, everytime he popped in on the broadcast he had something fun and insightful for the listener…
Thumbs down – FOX during Saturday nights USC v Arizona State game using a montage of Herm Edwards and Kenny Dillingham sound bites. Herm was a nice man who’s parting gift was a bowl ban and a yet to be completed NCAA investigation. Does anyone putting together a broadcast think it might be important to study up rather than just finding an excuse to work in Herm’s “you play to win the game” clip from his Jets days?…
Suns Media Day is next week. Yes, the NBA never sleeps…
Hamilton football has joined national powers Mater Dei(Ca.) and Bishop Gorman(NV) in accepting an invite to play in Broward County,Florida next August against three powerhouse teams from that area. We also have the Honor Bowl relocating next October from San Diego to Mesa’s Red Mountain high school. Yes, our state keeps churning out good football, that other parts of the country are pursuing…
Liberty and Saguaro go to California and come back winless. Good for them taking big games right before region play…
