Will a change in head coach immediately help the Suns win a title in 2024-25?
Does Mike Budenholzer have a magic wand to fix a roster devoid of a point guard? Does he have a way of slowing down the miles Kevin Durant is putting on his body or good health to Bradley Beal. Does Mike Budenholzer have a roster that can compete with the young guns in Oklahoma City and Minnesota? Mat Ishba swung and missed his first major hire. He fired Monty Williams, he hired Frank Vogel, he traded for Bradley Beal, he didn’t have a strong point guard on the roster and the team was worse than a season ago.
It’s better to move on from the mistake than worry about getting ripped and criticized from shore to shore. I applaud the owner for having the guts to cut Vogel loose, but it wasn’t Vogel’s fault. Hiring Mike Budenholzer doesn’t guarantee the Suns anything next season. They didn’t win ONE playoff game last month. Is winning 5,6,8, 10 games in the postseason next year a big improvement? No. This roster was constructed, rightly or wrongly, to win a title. I’d suggest by watching the Western Conference playoffs that the window is closed for this group(as it’s constructed today) to win 16 postseason games in 2024-25…
