The Sun Devils took care of business on Thursday night, making a Week 1 matchup against NAU an uneventful endeavor. Now, they have to ramp up and go to No. 12 Oklahoma State on Saturday.
It’s a tall task for the Devils, and head coach Herm Edwards previewed what to expect against the Cowboys:
Perhaps the only negative from Thursday’s game was Joey Ramos’ high ankle injury that will sideline him for the season. The Iowa State transfer brings a wealth of experience to the offensive line, and has played the Cowboys in every year of his college career. The Sun Devils spoke often of the depth they had at the offensive line during the preseason, and that is being tested already one week in.
There was a lot of hype for X Valladay’s debut for the Sun Devils, and the running back delivered with 116 yards and two touchdowns. Valladay hit his stride in the final three quarters, and will look to do the same on the road against the Cowboys.
And finally, Coach Edwards shares his thoughts on the College Football Playoff expansion news and looks back to a time that an expanded playoff would have helped on of their opponents.
Arizona State and Oklahoma State kick off at 4:30 PM Arizona time on Saturday.
