Arizona shortstop Tayler Biehl has been the model of consistency and versatility in Tucson over the years.
She’s helped lead the Wildcats in the Caitlin Lowe era and is regarded as one of the best defenders in all of college softball. Throughout her career in Tucson, she’s heard a consistent phrase from assistant coach Lauren Lappin: “Take up space.”
Be a presence. Have your shoulders back. Play with confidence. That’s the way Tayler and the entire Arizona softball team wants to play.
It resonated so much with Tayler that she had the saying stitched on her glove as a quick reminder during a game.
And it’s safe to say the shortstop has done that and then some during her time in Tucson. The Big 12 softball scholar-athlete of year has been an example on the field and in the classroom and community.
And as the Wildcats start their postseason journey as the No. 2 seed in the Durham regional, they’ll look to take up space.
