Sun Devils Win Big 12 Championship, Make Case for CFP Bye

ARLINGTON, TX – After being picked dead last in the Big 12 media preseason poll, Arizona State sits atop the conference standings after beating Iowa State 45-19.

Cam Skattebo had three total touchdowns. X Guillory caught two scores while Jordyn Tyson was out with injury. The defense caused three turnovers, and the Sun Devils ran away with the game and the conference’s Colelge Football Playoff spot.

It was a Texas-sized statement from the Devils to the selection commitee that ASU deserves a first-round bye in the bracket. The top four conference champions earn those spots. Right now, the Big Ten and SEC winners are firmly positioned to earn two of those spots. The ACC leaders SMU is No. 8 in last week’s poll and will play Clemson in their conference championship. Boise State is slated at No. 10 and already beat No. 20 UNLV.

To earn a bye, the Sun Devils would need to leap either one of them.

Kenny Dillingham and Arizona State playmakers discuss the win and make the case for a bye in the bracket.
