Arizona State jumped out to an early 7-0 lead at Cincinnati, only to fall to the Bearcats 24-14. The Sun Devil offense, led by quarterback Jeff Sims in for the injured Sam Leavitt, wasn’t able to muster much through the air on the afternoon.
Cincinnati held a 24-7 halftime lead, but the Arizona State defense stiffened up in the second half, holding the Bearcats scoreless.
Special teams let down Arizona State with two missed field goals by Ian Hershey.
The Sun Devils(5-2) will now take their second bye week of the season to regroup and prepare for their November 2nd trip to Oklahoma State.
