Four games left in Pac-12 play and Arizona State looks like the team to beat in the South.
UCLA didn’t dominate against Colorado like I had expected. Even though the final margin of victory was 22 points, the Bruins didn’t put their foot down on the throat of the Buffs and squeeze.
Ka’Deem Carey ran for 100 yards against Cal on Saturday. It’s the 11th straight 100-yard game for the Wildcat.
Quarterback B.J. Denker has done an admirable job of growing the Arizona offense. He has a couple of terrific freshman receivers including former Basha High star Nate Phillips, who caught his fourth touchdown of the season in Saturdays win.
It’s safe to say that ASU caught USC at the right time on the schedule.
So ASU controls it’s own destiny for the Pac-12 South title. They will have their hands full this Saturday at Utah. Former ASU head coach Dennis Erickson is the co-offensive coordinator in Salt Lake City. Sure, the Utes are just 1-4 in Pac-12 play, but that one win was over #5 Stanford.
The number that jumps out at me on Utah this season is minus-7 in turnover margin, which is 11th in the Pac-12. A hand injury to quarterback Travis Wilson has been a big reason why the Utes have struggled in recent weeks.
