Perez was most recently on West Virginia.

The 6-foot-5 guard sat out last year after transferring from Manhattan mid-year. In the 2021-22 season, his most recent on the court,  he averaged 18.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists two years ago.

He had entered the transfer portal after Bob Huggins was fired from West Virginia, but came back to the Mountaineers. Two weeks ago, Perez and West Virginia reportedly “parted ways” due to an academic issue according to Adam Zagoria. Zagoria further reports Perez will be automatically eligible because he can enroll in school at the start of Arizona State’s “B Session” of the semester. This was similar timing to when quarterback Jaden Rashada was able to enroll and be eligible for the football team last spring.

This would be Perez’s fifth school after attending Gardner-Webb, Marquette, Manhattan and West Virginia.

The Sun Devils are waiting to hear back from the NCAA on an eligibility waiver for guard Adam Miller, who transferred from LSU. This addition could be independent of Miller’s eligibility decision.

This would be the 10th addition to the program this offseason. Guards Frankie Collins and Jamiya and big Alonzo Gaffney are the only remaining players who logged significant minutes from last season.
