Kenny Dillingham has assembled some of the most decorated high school head football coaches in the state on his ASU coaching staff.
Between running backs coach Shaun Aguano (Chandler), assistant head coach Charlie Ragle (Chaparral) and tight ends coach Jason Mohns (Saguaro), the trio has accumulated 14 Arizona prep titles.
They are three of the most respected head coaches to come out of Arizona and a group looking to further bolster its relationship with high schools around the states to keep the state’s top talent home.
It’s an impressive group but one that has not matched up on the field. Ragle won three titles in five years at Chaparral but was already coaching at the University of Arizona by the time Aguano and Mohns were taking over their programs. Saguaro was a 4A school for the majority of Mohns’ tenure and Chandler was 6A. The Open Division was introduced to Arizona high school football in Aguano’s first season at ASU.
Which means there’s plenty of debate among these three as to who would win in an Open Division-style tournament if each coach could have their best high school team.
Let’s just say this will be a topic of debate for a long, long time between this trio.
