Daulton Varsho, who was a steady versatile performer for the Diamondbacks in the 2022 season, was dealt on Friday to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and catcher Gabriel Moreno.
D-Backs traded from excess in the OF and capitalized. They are on the rise.

Varsho his 27 home runs for the Diamondbacks in 2022, playing both outfield and catcher.
Moreno is just 22 years old. He comes to Arizona with high praise as a defensive catcher with a very strong bat.
Attention, #Dbacks fans.
Gabriel Moreno is capable of hitting the ball hard enough that it can go STRAIGHT THROUGH A WALL. pic.twitter.com/wTHIRnWOW5

Gurriel Jr. has two seasons remaining on his contract. He hit .291 in 2022, with 5 home runs and 52 rbi in 121 games.
The additional player is outfielder Lourdes Gurriel.
Gabby Moreno is very, very good. Elite bat-to-ball. Enormous arm behind the plate. All-Star-caliber talent.
D-backs trade from an OF surplus with Varsho, who has power, versatility and, as a lefty, fits perfectly for Jays. https://t.co/dz3EkEoOQr
