On Sunday, skaters from across the valley traded in their ice rinks for the one-mile asphalt oval of Phoenix Raceway for a stroll. The festival honored the life and legacy of Coyotes Ring of Honor member, Leighton Accardo, in the second edition of Skatin’ for Leighton partnered with Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Leighton passed away from her battle with cancer in November of 2020 at the age of 9. Sunday’s event vyed to raise 149,000 to benefit the Leighton Accardo Memorial Fund to financially support the dreams and aspirations of youth female hockey players.
