Sande CharlesThe Arizona Coyotes announced ahead of the season that Lyndsey Fry would join the Yotes’ radio broadcast team as the color analyst making her only the third female to serve in this role for an NHL team.
Fry, also the Coyotes’ Director of External Engagement, Youth & Women’s Hockey, her “day job” as she calls it, and her “night job” now on the radio, joined veteran Radio Play-by-Play Announcer Bob Heethuis.
The newest color analyst credits her hockey career as preparing her for her new role. Fry played college hockey at Harvard and also competed in the 2014 Olympics, where she won a silver medal.
“It pushed me in every way that I needed in order to become a better person… a better student, a better athlete… it pushed me to all of my limits. There were days I wanted to quit.. it was one of those what didn’t kill you made you stronger.. our coach held everyone to the same standard, and that is such a good life lesson to learn.” Fry told Sports360AZ about attending and playing hockey at Harvard.
With regards to her new role, she said she is having a lot of fun and feels confident on the mic.
“The game is so fast. I have split seconds to even start talking,” Fry said. “If I have something to say, I have to have the confidence and have the thought developed enough to jump in and go.”
Skatin’ for Leighton with Lyndsey Fry
Sunday, February 21st, Fry will be skating around the Valley in honor of Leighton Accardo. Accardo passed away in 2020 from cancer.
Fry’s 96-mile skate will raise money for the Leighton Accardo Memorial Fund that will go toward a girl hockey scholarship fund. You can find out more about the event on Sunday here.
