Sando: Cards “One of the Most Intriguing Teams” In 2019

While expectations may be tempered, it’s safe to say their isn’t a lack of intrigue around the 2019 version of Arizona Cardinals training camp.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury was hired to jump-start the worst offense in the NFL last season and Kyler Murray will be looked upon to pick up where he left off at the University of Oklahoma last fall.

“Everyone is excited to see Kyler Murray, I think he could be a difference-making quarterback,” The Athletic Senior Writer Mike Sando said to Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat earlier this week. “You marry him to a coach in Kliff Kingsbury who may be a more criticized hire if you didn’t get this quarterback with him.”

One transition which is expected to be an easy one for the top overall pick is mastering Kingsbury’s offense. The “Air Raid” is a system Murray is familiar with dating back to his days as the top prep quarterback in the nation at Allen High School (TX). He’s already shown flashes of his big-play ability with both his arm and his feet in camp practices.

“They’re going to do everything possible to set this up for him to succeed,” Sando said. “I think he’s going to have some success.”

Few believe the Cards will compete in the loaded NFC West but Sando believes their entertainment value could keep interest high.

“I think they may be one of the most intriguing teams in the league, really.”

The Cardinals open their pre-season Thursday, August 8th against the Los Angeles Chargers at State Farm Stadium.
