Devon HenryFor the first time since 2015, the NASCAR Mexico Series returned to the United States by joining NASCAR’s premier series at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday.
After a hectic Saturday, Devon Henry celebrated with Daniel Suarez and the fans in Victory Lane for the King Taco La Batalla en El Coliseo. Due to unprecedented rain in the forecast, NASCAR moved all of Sunday’s events at the L.A. Coliseum to Saturday night just hours before the re-scheduled green flag. Suarez was unable to qualify for the 22-car Clash at the Coliseum but returned to his racing roots as he claimed the checkered flag in the nightcap event with the NASCAR Mexico Series.
Suarez was a ten-time winner in the NASCAR Mexico Series before moving to the United States and vying to make the greatest series in stock racing, the NASCAR Cup Series. Suarez moved to full-time racing in NASCAR’s American Series in 2014 and made his dream of making the Cup Series come true in 2017.
Prior to the race in L.A., the only other venue that the Mexico Series had raced at in the United States was Phoenix Raceway, where Suarez won at the Mexico Series in 2014.
Suarez now places all focus back on his hunt for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship, crowned at Phoenix Raceway on November 10. NASCAR officially kicks off the 2024 season on February 18 with the Daytona 500 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
