Ka’Deem Carey was an amazing high school football talent at Canyon Del Oro in Tucson. He always seemed one step ahead of others when he ran the football at UofA. But now that he’s getting ready for the draft, I’ve had more than one NFL person bring up the topic of how many hits that Carey has taken at his position. 1280 carries and 130 touchdowns later, how much tread is on the tire longterm?
Carey will need to impress teams at the board when he meets with them in person. Can he show that he has a complete command of the game when he’s asked about it in a meeting room with a grease pen in hand? Is he a true student of the game, versus just a good athlete hasn’t been answered…
Al McCoy has never shied away from sharing strong opinions and voicing displeasure with the NBA. Outgoing Commissioner David Stern recently sent an email to the Suns Hall of Fame play by play voice “I know our ideas haven’t always been agreed upon” Stern wrote. Al told me on the show this past week that “obviously I didn’t agree with every decisions that he (Stern) made, but he should be recognized as the greatest commissioner of any of the major sports”…
The Cardinals combo of Keim and Arians has made a good impression on the national media. Respected Sports Illustrated/NBC analyst Peter King joined me from the Scouting Combine on Friday, “who would’ve ever thought two years ago that we would be saying, well here are the Cardinals now smack dab in the middle of the toughest division in football”, King believes that the Cardinals have to be aggressive to compete “they cannot stay the same this offseason and hope to be a playoff team next year”.
He has Carson Palmer atop the list of improvements. “They must get more consistent play out of Palmer, it’s a huge point of emphasis for Bruce Arians this off-season”…
