QB3 Will Start vs Seattle, Who’s the Backup?

Three weeks in and the Cardinals quarterback carousel is in full swing. To no ones surprise, Steve Wilks named Josh Rosen(QB3) the starting quarterback for this Sundays home game against Seattle. This is the right move for a team that is 0-3 and clearly in rebuild mode. What caught my attention in hearing Wilks explanation Monday was the question about who is going to back up QB3. “Sam will be the backup as well as Mike Glennon, we have three quarterbacks”.  Ok. When you have three quarterbacks in the discussion it means you don’t have just ONE. Commit to Rosen for the rest of the season.

Look, I have no problem with Wilks wanting to make a move at quarterback. It’s his team. It’s his first time going through a quarterback controversy as a head coach. There’s no manual on how to deal with the most important position on the football field, but I do think leaving everything so wide open isn’t the right way to handle this. Wilks loves creating competition, that’s been very apparent with how he’s handled playing time for two former first round draft picks on defense. Deone Bucannon(4 snaps Sunday) and Hassan Reddick(1 snap). It’s the Bill Parcells way of coaching. Either you motivate or turn over the roster, it’s that simple. I would like to think that if the Cardinals are late in next Sundays game and have a 3rd and 2, that they don’t keep their highly paid, star running back on the sidelines. Give Rosen everything in his power to win the game.
