The relationship that is formed while on the recruiting trail is crucial to a coach’s success in landing top prospects. Part of that is convincing the player their school should be the landing spot for their college career. Part of that is really getting to know the player.
Jim Harbaugh has taken that to heart.
He made news last week when he said he slept over at the house of the nation’s top kicker recruit, and he followed suit by staying over at Brophy College Prep defensive end Connor Murphy’s house Tuesday night.

Netflix seemed to be involved, so what did they watch? Does Coach Harbaugh think Steve Avery did it? Who is Connor’s favorite inmate on Orange Is The New Black? Did big brother Trent force them to watch House of Cards now that he resides in the D.C.-area? Does Harbaugh see similarities between himself and Coach from New Girl? (SPOILER: Yes)

The Murphy family knows Harbaugh very well. He recruited Connor’s older brother, Trent, to Stanford, where the elder Murphy was a consensus All-American. While recruiting Trent, Harbaugh was able to spend some quality time with a young Connor.
Murphy remains one of the top players in the country who has not committed yet. Along with Michigan, Alabama, Arizona State, Oregon and USC are at play for the 6-foot-7 four-star recruit. Arizona also had an in-home visit with the Murphy’s.
