At just 18-years-old, Sammy Smith is a NASCAR Xfinity Series winner. The rookie led a race-high 92 of 200 laps en route to victory lane at Phoenix Raceway.
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver piloted four entries last year and showed off a slew of speed. Everyone knew Smith’s first career win would come sooner rather than later and it arrived just four races into the 2023 season.
Part-time Joe Gibbs Racing driver Ryan Truex fought for a second place finish, Sheldon Creed made a charge to finish third, Riley Herbst took home fourth, and Chandler Smith rounded out the top-five.
The weekend is capped off tomorrow with the United Rentals 500. The Xfinity Series returns to Phoenix Raceway on Nov. 4 to crown their champion. Next stop for the group is at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March. 18.
