PFF’s Steve Palazzolo on Cards’ Progress, Work Ahead

The 2020 Arizona Cardinals will be remembered a team of progress but also one that left opportunities on the table. 

The team won as many games this season as it had in the previous two combined. Kyler Murray took a jump in his development. Deandre Hopkins showed why he is a top receiver in the league. The defense stabilized despite losing Chandler Jones for much of the year. 

But 2020 revealed how far the team has to go in a tough NFC West division: Four of the team’s eight losses came against teams with records below .500. With their destiny in their own hands, the Cardinals dropped their last two games to the 49ers and Rams, with both teams starting backup quarterbacks. If it weren’t for a Hail Mary against Buffalo, Arizona would have ended up below .500 themselves.
