Peter King: Bowles Likely A Head Coach in 2015

It’s the ultimate sign of success and respect for every college and professional head coach.

When members of their staff are hired, usually promoted by other teams.

It’s the type of situation Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians may be facing in the upcoming weeks. It’s not a coincidence defensive coordinator Todd Bowles has already been linked to potential NFL head coaching vacancies. This comes on the heels of the Cards (11-4) allowing the fourth fewest points per game in the NFL (18.6), despite a myriad of key pre-season and in-season injuries.

“In my opinion I think the top two candidates out there right now the eyes of the NFL are Todd Bowles and David Shaw, the head coach at Stanford,” SI.com NFL insider Peter King told Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat during his weekly segment Tuesday morning. “I think Shaw is going to stay in [college]. I think Todd Bowles is going to get a job.”

As is frequently the case when assistants become head coaches organizations thoroughly inspect their pedigree and who helped mold their style, communication and leadership skills. Bowles has worked under some of the best, including Pro Football Hall of Fame member and two-time Super Bowl champion Bill Parcells.

“If you’re Todd Bowles you’ve got a great pedigree built up that’s gotten you ready to be a head coach in the NFL in 2015 ,” King explained to Cesmat.

Arians has frequently used “Bear Bryant-ism’s” as King said when dealing with the mental side of coaching and motivating players. King says BA often refers to the, “coach ’em hard, hug ’em later” philosophy. He’s 21-10 since taking over for Ken Whisenhunt following the 2012 season.

One destination which his been linked to Bowles is New York where the 3-12 Jets may be looking to go a different direction with long-time coach Rex Ryan who could be reaching the end of his tenure after six up-and-down seasons in the Big Apple.
