Over 300 Para Athletes from across the world storm into Mesa this month to participate in the annual Desert Challenge Games. This year’s event takes place from May 27 – June 1 and includes track and field events, air rifle & air pistol competition, swimming, archery, and a fencing clinic.
We sit down with Carol Leicht, the Executive Director at Arizona Disabled Sports, to discuss the event’s magnitude, its footprint on the City of Mesa, and the growth of Adaptive Athletics in Arizona and nationally.
