Offended over Bad Bunny, Kid Rock and Puppy Bowl. Mohns honored. Suns and grit…

“Hey, Brad, what do you think about? ”  What they are really saying is “I’m going to tell you what I think, whether you want to hear it or not”…

Between 6:15 and 6:30 pm MT on Sunday, The Puppy Bowl had 12 million viewers, and Kid Rock had 6.1 million. I am offended. How could so many love puppies! Kid Rock is on some of my playlists. How can this be!!! I am offended…

I’ve found myself in conversations this past week around the Super Bowl Halftime Show. I’m put off by those who only want to divide over Bad Bunny and Kid Rock. In a predictable fashion, if you watched one, it absolutely meant you were cheering for a certain political side of the street. God invented remote controls for a reason, so use them. If you want to judge someone by what they were watching at halftime of a football game, then that is a YOU problem.

I’m not offended that Bad Bunny averaged 128.2 million viewers during the 15-minute block. I like Bad Bunny. I love Lady Ga Ga. A winning combination. I love puppies, and Kid Rock is a good listen. Some people eat liver and onions. There are those who believe kale doesn’t taste like wallpaper. It’s fine. Stop being offended over everyday stuff. Life is too short…

Tuesday, March 3rd. Bobby Hurley will be coaching his final game on campus at Arizona State. The Sun Devils will play Kansas. It probably won’t be pretty, but for those who show up in their maroon and gold, Hurley doesn’t deserve anything less than applause. You may think that Bobby hasn’t done a good job, and from a wins/losses standpoint, it’s easy to come to that conclusion, but if you look at his total body of work in Tempe objectively, the central campus leadership is the one who should be roundly booed…

Have you seen the Big 12 basketball rankings? Six schools ranked in the Top 25. Try convincing a big name to come to Arizona State with a dilapidated building until 2029 and a Murder’s Row in the conference…

Congratulations to Jason Mohns. Named a Distinguished Arizonan by the National Football Foundation Bill Riddle Chapter. Look at what a dumpster fire Saguaro High School football has been since he left to join Kenny Dillingham. He’s done great work in his current role at Arizona State. He will be inducted on Saturday, April 18th, at Wild Horse Pass Showroom. Tickets here https://www.azriddlenff.org/

I’m very pleased to learn that at the same event, two longtime sports camera men/producers, John Gustafson(KTVK) and Brad Gass(KSAZ), will be honored with the Excellence in Sports Media award. Both are cornerstones in the Valley media ecosystem. It will be a great event!…

I’m guessing that the owner of our hometown hero’s on the gridiron will be plucky next Thursday when he unveils his new training facility in Scottsdale. After years and years of negative reviews from his field workforce, we will hear about the shiny new object..

A media friend sent me a note during last week’s bloodbath at the Washington Post sports department, saying there are now four times as many PR people in the media industry as journalists. Spinning is a popular part of our culture. Slight of hand to the right to take the attention off of the left…

Hey, we are NFL ownership. Let’s add an 18th regular-season game for the workforce, but we care about player safety. Gross…

Fine with Sewald and Gallen running it back with the Diamondbacks. If you look at what the GM has done in assembling a roster, it’s to be admired. A great mix of players that allows the team to compete for the postseason each year, without falling off a cliff for long periods of time, as so many franchises do…

Unlike many years of watching the Suns have a good regular season, this current group is built for the postseason. Jalen Green needs to be ready to go by March 15. Dillon Brooks and Devin Booker will have trouble with officiating in the postseason. Both have to find a way to navigate. This team has grit, but in today’s NBA, that can land players on the bench early and often in the postseason. It’s a different game…
