In a talented and deep 2019 Arizona class, a top defensive recruit has made his pledge. O’Connor four-star defensive end Bralen Trice announced on Saturday he has verbally committed to the University of Washington over fellow finalists Oregon and Notre Dame.

Trice holds 13 offers from most of the Pac-12 as well as programs like Alabama, TCU and Notre Dame. The Huskies were the first to offer the defensive end.
“Trice has tremendous length and a frame to bulk up,” Sports360AZ recruiting expert Jason Jewell said. “He uses his hands very well and pursues the quarterback with a relentless motor. I think he fits in the Tren Murphy mold in that he can bulk up and stay at defensive end but has enough length and athletic ability that maybe he could play outside linebacker.

Since his junior year, Trice has 101 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 16 sacks.
“If you can’t have relentless effort, it’s real hard to play our defense,” O’Connor head coach Steve Casey told Sports360AZ this spring. “Bralen brings relentless effort. For a kid his size, the way he plays, it inspires other kids to play hard.”
Trice will join the likes of former Saguaro athlete Byron Murphy, Salpointe Catholic offensive lineman Matteo Mele and Centennial defensive back Dominique Hampton as top Arizona recruits to pledge to Washington in recent years.
Trice could be starting a wave of top defensive players in the state making their commitments. Higley defensive end Ty Robinson, Williams Field safety Noa Pola-Gates, Chandler defensive lineman Matthew Pola-Mao, Saguaro defensive back Nate Polk, Hamilton safety Javin Wright and Mountain Pointe safety Lacrea Pleasant-Johnson are all among some of the top uncommitted players in the state.
