The Suns are entertaining and engaging. Pitchers and catchers report in just over a month. Miami, Fla, and Ole Miss are on the turf in Glendale on Thursday. Your Cardinals fired another head coach.
Arizona Wildcat basketball is ranked #1, led by a former Valley high school superstar. The Final Four for Women’s College Basketball will be here in early April. Your Cardinals are at rock bottom in the NFC West, looking up at three playoff teams. “The Fight for 53” will be shoved down our throats in late July. Dust off “All of Nothing” once again to show how great our hometown heroes on the gridiron are going to be in 2026.
No substance.
Lucky me, when I broke into the business, Donald T. Sterling was running the San Diego Clippers, and Alex Spanos owned the Chargers. I used to think that sports owners were “in it to win it”, but I realized in pretty short order that making money was more important than winning. I arrived in 1993, and fortunately, I was able to see Jerry Colangelo and his group of talented, well-regarded people conduct their business the right way. I would spar with Jerry on the air, but he showed up every Monday night at 6:30 for “Talk to the Owner”. I was not given any talking points. No one came down the hall saying, “You better play by our rules when it comes to our partners.”
No way this owner could do such a thing.
How does this franchise(“beleaguered” is kind) build trust with the paying customers when decades of mistake after mistake come directly from the owners’ box when hiring head coaches? We all see and know the problem, and it’s not going to change.
Kevin Durant beat the Suns with a three-pointer at the buzzer tonight. WM Open is a month out. NASCAR is right around the corner. Arizona and Arizona State are making big moves in the transfer portal, and your Cardinals have fired another head coach…
