The Phoenix Suns season came to an abrupt end after falling to the Dallas Mavericks, 123-90 in Game 7. Despite the loss, Williams says this gives the Suns an opportunity to grow in a way they were unable to after last season’s success.
“Now we have to accept this in a way that last year didn’t allow for us to grow.”

Deandre Ayton spent only 17 minutes on the court on Sunday night and Williams stated his reasons for only playing Ayton for that time were “internal.”

“I’m gonna do everything I can to help us win games and at that point, with the lead where it was, I decided not to put him back in the game,” Williams said. “I’ll keep all of the internal stuff internal but it was just a decision I made.”
Williams added that he hasn’t spoken individually with Ayton but addressed the team as a whole on Monday.
Before leaving the press conference, Williams took a moment to mention that his thoughts are still with BG and her safe return home.
“We think about Brittney Griner a ton”.
