Mom is Leaving, Valley QB finds new home, Hamilton OC Hole in One, more…

Arizona Sports News online

This will be the last Mother’s Day for mom in Arizona. The moving van left on Friday morning for Kansas. I’ll fly mom to Wichita on Monday and my brother will take her from the airport to her new life. At 89, she seems ready for the next chapter. \In January my wife lost her mother after a battle with dementia. I know that this is going to be a tough Mother’s Day for her.Enjoy your Mom while you can. You never know when things will change…

Brittney Griner – Day 80 of being detained in Russia…

Former Desert Vista high school QB Parker Navarro went into the transfer portal two weeks ago from Central Florida. Saturday afternoon he committed to Ohio University. Good landing spot. ” I fell in love with the atmosphere of OU and the people. Coach Albin and his staff are great coaches, but even better people. I’m excited to work with them.”…

The NFL schedule will be released on Thursday. The list of teams coming to Glendale outside of the three from the NFC West is intriguing.

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Heard from ALOT of Arizona State football die-hards this week(they’ve died hard for the last twenty-five years since Jake and the Boys). Given everything that has happened in the last two years, I don’t see the reason to keep rehashing the continued underachieving from top to bottom in the football program. The question now is how do they get out of this mess? The program has never been on lower ground in the 29 years I’ve been here, but the season opener against Northern Arizona is 116 days away. The game isn’t going to be canceled. NAU won at Tucson last year and you can be sure that Lumberjacks head coach Chris Ball is using that game to build belief that the ‘Jacks can come to Tempe and win. There is a segment of the fan base that doesn’t want to hear about the scandal, transfer portal,  NIL, coaches leaving, NCAA investigation, etc, etc, etc. Those folks just want to hear the band play the Fight Song, see Sparky stomp the bus on the video board, and cheer for their team. The “die-hards” will continue to “die-hard” in 2022. All part of being a fan…

TNT broadcast of the NBA Playoffs vs ESPN is a no-contest. Turner has lapped the competition when it comes to production, announcers, entertainment, and presentation…

Hey Mr, Kendrick, If we get to July 1st and your baseball team is within striking distance of a wild card(never thought I’d type this a month ago), would you open up the purse strings some to go after some established bats or bullpen help?…

I played in the Gary Cruz Memorial golf tourney Saturday at Gainey Ranch Golf Club. Gary was one of the best who cared for others and always delivered at his job. There was none of the “I’m better than you” nonsense that comes from some within this business.  When he was diagnosed with cancer back in 2018, I asked Cruzzer to be my putting partner in a tournament. He was too weak to play the round, but we talked and he poked fun. He would be gone a few months later…

Hamilton quarterback coach/offensive coordinator Jeremy Kitamura hit a hole in one in the Husky golf tourney on Saturday. The second of his career. IF he can have Roch Cholowsky as his quarterback this fall, Kitamura will be guiding one of the best two-sport athletes to come out of Arizona in quite some time. Cholowsky is a star baseball prospect, who has already committed to UCLA as a shortstop. Been hearing that he may just focus on baseball this Fall. Can’t say I blame him…
