MLB suspends Diamondbacks pitcher for betting on baseball

Diamondbacks pitcher Andrew Saalfrank, who pitched in last year’s World Series run, was suspended a year by Major League Baseball on Tuesday morning for impermissible sports betting. According to the Associated Press, MLB found that Saalfrank bet on Diamondback games before he was called up by the team in 2021-2022. He broke MLB Rule 21(d)(1), the League sports betting policy. According to a statement released by Major League Baseball, Saalfrank bet $445.87 on baseball, with $444.07 on MLB-related bets(on average of approximately $15.86 per bet)and with a net loss of $272.64 on MLB bets. Saalfrank only won five of his 28 MLB-related bets and lost $1.80 on a college bet.
