Have you figured out that the NFL has you in a corner when it comes to watching their product?
How many monthly paid subscription services will you have to order to watch the entire 2026 season? Right now, the number sits at seven. I’m sure that while working through the dispute with referees, tush push, what’s a catch, and what isn’t, the League isn’t too concerned about pricing out the fan that just wants to follow their team from the comforts of home.
The NBA isn’t much better. Now that the playoffs are starting, the local television broadcasts are over. You want to watch the Suns vs. Portland Tuesday night? Better sign up for Prime Video because that’s where it is being shown. This isn’t going to go in reverse. Just as the sports calendar needlessly takes over the holidays, people will find a way to pay for a subscription to fake football in August. Maybe Cable TV wasn’t the problem…
When the Diamondbacks were created, the bullpen never made the mold. Monday night’s 7-1 lead at Baltimore turned into a 9-7 loss. Coming out of the pen with a gas can and matches is no way to make a living. When does the GM take excessive heat for the year-in and year-out mess down at the swinging gate?
The mold was broken when former Arizona Cardinals head coach Dave McGinnis was created. “Coach Mac” passed away on Monday. He made covering a bad team fun(an art, really). Quick wit, charm, humor, and real. That’s how I would sum up “Coach Mac” RIP…
Jason Mohns will get his flowers (or trophy) on Saturday at the National Football Foundation Riddle Chapter Scholarship luncheon. Have you seen what has happened to the once-proud Saguaro High School football program since he left? Have you seen the players who have developed under him since taking the route of a college assistant coach at Arizona State? When, not if, he and Shaun Aguano leave Arizona State for head coaching gigs, it will be a step back for the Sun Devils. I hope to see both men walking a different sideline in the not-so-distant future…
How are we feeling about the Cardinals’ chances of making a splash with the third pick in next week’s draft? Me – not so much. Trade down…trade down…trade down….it’s not like they’re just a few players away in a soft division.
I will be hosting a draft party with Chicago Bears Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher at Harrah’s Ak Chin on Draft Night…
Watching “Rooster” on HBO(yes, I pay for a few streaming services myself), Steve Carell is laugh-out-loud funny. Well worth the time investment…
Under the title of “tired topics” that will be brought back after the Suns are eliminated, “Should the Suns and Devin Booker part ways?” The argument can be made both ways. Maybe I’m jsut tired of hearing the same old thing by early May over the last several years…
Under the headline “Get them dribbling while in diapers”, WNBA salary for last night’s top pick, Azzi Fudd, was half a million. Last year’s first pick, Paige Bueckers signed the dotted line for just under 79K. If you think parents were crazy at their daughters’ 5th-grade club basketball game on court 3 at 8 am on a Sunday in the losers’ bracket, just youoouuuuu waaaaiiitttttt…
Got my annual skin exam. Don’t put it off…
