Following a first round exit by way of sweep to the Minnesota Timberwolves, there are tons of questions surrounding the Phoenix Suns.
There won’t be clear answers for awhile.
On Wednesday, owner Mat Ishbia and GM James Jones spoke to the media. They offered some insight into how they feel about this team.
Ishbia thinks this roster is in a great place and that “26 general managers” would love to be in their shoes. James Jones agrees. Part of that stems from having all five current starters locked up for multiple years. More of it comes from the deep pockets on Ishbia, who isn’t scared of spending well over the NBA limits.
Both talked briefly about topics like Frank Vogel’s future, thought of getting a point guard, and more. But they were vague answers. As they should be at this point. They will take their time to let cooler heads prevail.
Firing a coach after one season is an emotional decision, not usually a logical one.
These two are the right people. I believe Frank Vogel is the guy for now as well. The Big 3 can figure it out with more time together.
None of that means a championship will come to the valley though.
Let’s see how this offseason and year 2 of the current Suns plays out before passing judgement.
