The main theme of this year’s Suns Media Day: Continuity.
Whether it was Vegas, Toronto, or Flagstaff – the guys were together most of the summer and certainly much more than a vast majority of teams across the NBA.
Head Coach Jordan Ott mentioned that because there were over 10 members of the squad consistently at the practice facility, they were able to “start early” and set the tone for training camp.

“This offseason was about continuity…we’re an ascending team…Been a great summer, but now it has to translate to the court…”

Owner Mat Ishbia spoke on a number of relevant topics, including whether his mortgage company’s (United Wholesale Mortagage) performance can affect the Phoenix Suns.
Not only did he make it clear that the Suns and Mercury won’t be negatively affected even if his company has a bad quarter, like it recently did, he put his money where his mouth is, once again.
Ishbia bought an additional 14% of the franchise. That brings his total ownership stake close to 80%.
He plans to own the team “for the next 40 to 50 years.”
Ishbia also didn’t shy away from the Miles Bridges conversation.
He made it clear that Bridge’s actions off the court were unacceptable, that he’s seen remorse from Bridges, and expects to continue to see him take necessary steps to be accountable and learn from his mistakes.
Time will tell how true that is.
Perhaps the biggest star of the day was Khaman Maluach, who Devin Booker says personally reached out to “get work in” when he noticed they both were staying late at the facility.
“Looking forward to it… 30 is one of those milestone years…feel something good cooking.”
“I love the game more than ever. My body feels better than it’s ever felt going into training camp.”

Speaking of Phoenix’s Prodigal Sun – Booker’s demeanor is that of a man confident in the people around him.
It helps when one of his co-stars in Jalen Green is getting playmaking and facilitating advice from Suns legend Steve Nash.
Jalen Green on what stood out about the continuity of the roster during the offseason.

Perry Pumas. Arizona Wildcats. Phoenix Suns. Mr. Arizona himself – Koa Peat – finally introduced to his hometown crowd.
“It’s surreal…thankful to be in this situation…hasn’t fully sunk in yet…super excited to see what I can do here for the city.”

Peat has impressed the likes of Suns General Manager Brian Gregory. Here’s Gregory on the process that led to Peat being selected at No. 30:

Lastly, shout out Desert Vista alum Oso Ighodaro for this quote:
“The Phoenix hoops scene is extremely underrated & more college coaches should come out here & look at these kids.”
WHAT HE SAID.
Suns training camp is underway with first preseason game vs the Pistons on Monday, October 5 at 4 PM.
