The expectations were high for Kyler Murray in year one as the Cardinals’ quarterback. The team moved on from Josh Rosen, who was selected with the 10th overall pick a year prior, and used the top overall pick in the 2019 draft on the Oklahoma quarterback.
Well, Saturday was a nod that it was the correct move, at least one year into his career after Murray was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He received 26.5 of the 50 votes availble.
As a rookie, Murray threw for 3,722 yards with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He completed 64.4 percent of his passes. On the ground, Murray ran for 544 yards and 4 touchdowns. He is the sixth player to pass for at least 3,500 yards and run for 500 yards in a season.
Murray joins Ottis Anderson (1979) and Anquan Boldin (2003) as Cardinals to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
