Kyle Allen is no longer a Texas A&M Aggie.
As first reported by TexAgs.com, the former Scottsdale Desert Mountain High School star leaves after nearly two seasons under center in College Station.
He took to twitter to share some thoughts after the decision.

An early enrollee as a true freshman, Allen replaced incumbent sophomore Kenny Hill halfway through the 2014 season and led A&M to a Liberty Bowl win over West Virginia. The 6’3″, 210-pounder earned game MVP honors throwing for a season-high 294 yards and four touchdowns. In nine games last year he threw for 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He was named the Walter Camp Award Player of the Week after his breakout performance in an upset win at Auburn.
Allen was named the starter in fall camp and played well against his hometown team leading A&M to a 38-17 win over Arizona State in Houston. He threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for another. The highly touted quarterback struggled in back-to-back SEC losses to Alabama and Ole Miss.
Many believe head coach Kevin Sumlin felt pressured to play true freshman and Texas high school legend Kyler Murray (whose dad was a former Aggie star). Allen was officially named the started heading into the season. The yo-yoing between two young, decorated quarterbacks has many Aggie fans pointing fingers at Sumlin and offensive coordinator Jake Spavital for answers.
It remains to be seen where Allen will continue his academic and playing career but several schools will likely be lining up for his services. Many believe he has NFL potential. He will have two seasons of playing eligibility remaining.
“Oklahoma comes to mind because it does fit all those things, and my old (high school) teammate Mark Andrews is a receiver there,” Allen told FOX Sports. “Coach (Bob) Stoops is an all-time great coach.”
The five-star recruit finishes his Aggie career 278-475 for 3532 yards, 33 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also rushed for three touchdowns. Allen picked the SEC school over Oklahoma State, UCLA, Notre Dame and Ohio State among others.
A&M (8-4, 4-4) will play Louisville in the Music City Bowl on December 30th.
