Joe Germaine spent the last 10 plus years around Queen Creek football. In his last two seasons as the Bulldog’s head coach, he lead them to back-to-back playoff appearances. Now, the former Ohio State Buckeye starts a new chapter with his Alma Mater, the Moutain View Toros as their new head football coach.
“It wasn’t something I was actively pursuing. It happened very last minute.”
Mountain View has a new principle in Mike Oliver. Oliver’s excitement for the future is what sold Germaine on the next step in his coaching career.
“Hearing his vision for the school. His passion for it. His excitement for it. His 100% commitment to raising the there. It was really exciting to hear and something I wanted to be a part of. I believe in his vision.”
The Toros had a great 2020 season going 6-2 even with everything going on with the pandemic. Germaine takes over a program with a lot of momentum and a lot of tradition.
” There is excellence that Mountain View represents… They are champions. That logo of Moutain View really means something. Eight state championships in football is an amazing feat; not too many schools have that. I hope to try and continue in that tradition. They had a really great season last year. I compliment the coaches and the players who played last season.”
The former Toro knows what it means to win championships. He led Moutain View to their own state win back in 1993. Now Germaine gets a shot at re-living that championship, but from a coaching point of view.
